Since fake profiles and nefarious intent can easily be hidden within the anonymity of the Internet, escalate all encounters as soon as possible. Never waste days/weeks/months texting when you don’t know if the photos are real or if there is actual chemistry between you and your crush. It is often a recipe for frustration and disappointment. Your time is valuable. Don’t waste it on posers who are getting off while you are wasting your precious time with them.

So, escalate to verify quickly! Go from TEXTING to VOICE MESSAGING to PHONE CHATTING to VIDEO CHATTING to MEETING IN PERSON. If possible, skip some of the in-between steps. If you notice resistance from your fantasy man as you attempt to escalate, it’s a RED FLAG. It usually means they are misrepresenting themselves or their pics or they are cheating on someone or they are just not that into you but love the attention.

RECOMMENDATION: Keep your bullshit detector turned up to 11 as you vet all candidates. Verify, verify, verify! Quickly, quickly, quickly!
